- Thrive in full sun
- Grows up to 18 inches tall
- Well-drained, composted soil
These are excellent for summer bedding. They attract pretty butterflies and pollinators.
How to grow:
Plant in spring, spacing plants 1 to 3 feet apart, depending on the variety. Prepare the garden bed by loosening the soil, then mix in a layer of compost. Dig a hole twice the diameter of the pot the plant is in. Place the plant in the hole so the top of the root is level with the soil surface. Carefully fill in around the root and firm the soil gently. Adequate watering is required.
How to care:
Apply a thin layer of compost each spring, followed by a layer of mulch to retain moisture. Water the plants during summer. After the first killing frost, you can cut the stems back to an inch or two above the soil line.
Divide plants every 3 to 4 years as new growth begins in the spring, lifting plants and dividing them into clumps.
