The Agapanthus makes for a great feature in your garden with its large vibrant flowers that are abundant. These fragrant plants are relatively easy to grow and require minimal care.

How to grow:

The Agapanthus need well-drained soil and a sunny location to thrive. It is recommended that you space them 30cm apart. A mulch of straw is advisable when your young plants are still establishing. Established clumps of evergreen Agapanthus are able to withstand low temperatures if the ground is well-drained.

How to care:

It could take about two years for plants to establish before flowering really takes off, but once it happens, they will grow into long, flowering clumps. You need to keep the plants moist, to ensure that they flower, until autumn after the flowers start to fade. This will encourage the development of new flower buds. Cut down spent flower stems. If clumps get too big, you can lift and split every four years.
